I. Professional Profile
The major of Environmental Science in Yunnan Agricultural University is affiliated to the College of Resources and Environment with a history of nearly 30 years. The specialty of agricultural environmental Protection was started in 1990, and successfully applied for the specialty of Environmental Science in 1999. In 2000, it began to recruit undergraduate students of environmental science, and in 2004, it began to recruit graduate students of environmental science. In 2011, "Environmental Science and Engineering" was approved as a key discipline with advantages and characteristics in Yunnan Province.
Environmental science professional practice teaching mainly relying on the yunnan agricultural environmental pollution control and ecological restoration engineering laboratory, environmental science and engineering innovative talent training base in yunnan province, yunnan province, college of agricultural non-point source pollution control engineering research center, school of agricultural foundation experiment teaching center, environmental science and ecological environment research institute and other scientific research and laboratory teaching platform, To carry out experimental teaching and scientific research. The Environmental Science Laboratory consists of three laboratories: environmental monitoring, environmental engineering and environmental ecology. The experimental room is about 600 m2, and all kinds of teaching instruments and equipment are complete. Experimental courses of environmental chemistry, environmental ecology, environmental monitoring, environmental soil science, environmental engineering, and soil and water conservation are set up for this major to meet the needs of undergraduate experimental teaching.
Based on the rich and diverse climate and environmental conditions in the low-latitude and high-altitude regions of Yunnan, the environmental Science major conducts research and teaching on plateau agricultural environmental problems such as agricultural non-point source pollution in plateau lake basin, heavy metal pollution in farmland soil, low utilization rate of agricultural solid waste, and soil and water loss. It is featured in ultraviolet radiation ecology, farmland non-point source pollution control and soil heavy metal pollution remediation.
